ISU Junior Grand Prix ~ Wuxi, China
Congratulations to ISV member Vinceman Chong on your selection to the ISU Junior Grand Prix (JGP) in Wuxi, China (9-12th October 2024). ISV was honoured to have ISU Judge Tricia Moritz welcome all to the special presentation and Australian former competitive figure skater Cameron Medhurst present the ISA Championship Representative jacket to Vinceman. This was a momentous occasion as Cameron won the Senior Men National title eight times, represented Australia at nine World Championships and three Winter Olympics placing 10th in the World Rankings during his competitive career. Like Cameron, Vinceman is a wonderful ambassador to the sport of figure skating and ISV wishes him all the best for the Championship event.
Please read Vinceman’s expression of gratitude speech.
"Thank You Speech I want to start off by taking a moment to express my deepest gratitude. First, a huge thank you to ISV for the honour of receiving this jacket. Receiving the ISA Championship Representative Jacket is an incredible privilege. It represents my role as an ambassador for figure skating Victoria, and I’m deeply honoured to carry that responsibility. I would also like to thank ISA for the amazing opportunities they have given me. Competing internationally, including at the ISU Junior Grand Prix last season in Bangkok, has been a dream come true, and this jacket symbolizes the support and recognition I’ve received throughout my journey. I am also honoured to be nominated for the ISU JGP in Wuxi, China this season, which will be a massive building block for me, allowing me to compete in an arena-style rink against some of the world’s best. Attending the Asian Open Trophy in Hong Kong recently was an incredible learning experience. Although I believe it wasn’t my best skate, it helped me recognize the significant gap in skill, which ignited a flame of determination within me, motivating me to push even harder in upcoming competitions. I also want to thank my amazing coaches Richard Laidlaw and Lee Chaplin. Without your guidance, expertise, and unwavering belief in me, none of this would have been possible. You’ve pushed me to be my best and inspired me to keep reaching for new heights. I was truly surprised and privileged to be nominated for the Perpetual Trophy at the Crystal Challenge. It means so much to be recognized, I hope to be a great role model for upcoming skaters within our community. Finally, to my family. Your constant encouragement, whether it’s early mornings at the rink, late nights after competitions, or the effort you guys put in order to make ends meet while allowing me to continue my journey is this expensive sport means everything. I couldn’t have achieved this without your love and support. Thank you everyone! I look forward to seeing you all achieve great things in your own figure skating journeys, whether big or small"
